Talking to a friend before I left for the holidays, I brought up some work I need to do for my current dissertation project. This friend sensed I was feeling overwhelmed with everything on my plate, and kindly suggested I let this one piece be a 2020 problem.
In academia there are of course hard deadlines we must meet like grant submissions, but there are also many things that can in fact wait. So if you’re also feeling buried under work during this busy and often fraught time of year, please be generous to yourself in triaging what can wait.
